Doggy Bowling League

Have you ever been on the way out the door to your bowling league and thought to yourself, “hey, I wonder why my dog is never invited…?”

Well, now’s your chance to take your dog bowling! (sort of)

So what exactly IS the Doggy Bowling League?

During each Tournament, you and your Teammate will take turns as the Bowler (dog on the Bowling Lane) and as the Cheersquad (earn bonus points for your Team!).

Your Team will score points for completing the tasks in each Tournament Event (collecting different types of points on the Bowling Lane), and accumulate points throughout the program until a Winning Team is crowned in the graduating class!

While the Doggy Bowling League is entirely made up and just for fun, and is silly by design, we will still be teaching practical training skills, including:

  • Accepting guidance and instruction from you as the trainer
  • Impulse control for dogs who are over-excited by the bowling ball
  • Confidence building for nervous dogs
  • Wait/settle
  • Making good training decisions under low-stakes pressure
  • Learning verbal cues/hand signals
  • Performing a behaviour while not oriented toward the trainer (this is surprisingly hard!)

Prerequisites

  • Dogs must be happy to train for treats in a group class environment, and be able to pass other dogs on-leash in a controlled manner when taking turns on course – training is completed off leash.
  • Stay (sit, stand or down) at a distance of at least 6ft

SIX weeks in length.
Enrolment is limited to 4 dogs per class
